Trips - Ocean Grove New Jersey
The bus will depart from the Northampton Township parking lot at 9:00 AM for Ocean Grove, NJ, a treasure town, nestled on the Jersey Shore. The Year was 1869, and a group of spiritual lay leaders assembled as The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association to form and incorporate the town of Ocean Grove. This one square mile of natural beauty has welcomed vacationers, including U.S. presidents, award-winning writers, and popular celebrities for over a century. IN 1975, Ocean Grove was designated a State and National Historic District. It has the greatest extent of Victorian and early 20th century architecture in the United States. A tour of the town will introduce you to its' uniqueness: camp-style tents, famous auditorium with over 10,000 wooden seats, curved acoustical ceiling and auditorium organ dubbed one of the largest and most famous pipe organs in the country.
After the tour, take a lazy day to explore the gingerbread homes, stroll quaint tree-lined streets with shops and restaurants, walk the boardwalk along the ocean to nearby Asbury Park, a diverse contrast to its' sister community or spend time on the beach. Relax, re-energize and enjoy the sites!
